Almost everyone, or so it seems, has an ISP—Google is as well known as a Hostess Twinkie. But what else is out there? Aside from technologies like direct tv, satellite and the Internet, what else is there?
- TiSP is a free ISP provided by Google. This wireless broadband provides a fast and reliable service via your plumbing system. No kidding. All you need is a central sewer system that connects to your home.
- Xfone offers callings cards and resale opportunities along with the standard Internet and messaging services.
- Triple C provides DiskCloud for unique storage and sharing of data, as well as Plesk Panel, an automation control panel that assists in the running of your hosting business.
- Smile is an ISP offered in Israel. Controlled by Eurocom Communications, whose shares are traded on the NASDAQ, Smile spouts secure web access to residential and business subscribers.
- Bezeq International, also located in Israel, offers a service called NetDisk. This service stores video clips, pictures, and personal files. Bezeg also offers multi-channel television broadcasts, Israel’s only provider of such a service.
- Orange is a UK based ISP. Their friendly site shares and updates the local weather, Orange news as well as celebrity news and games. “Extra goodies” are also included in becoming an Orange user. Win “free calls” or “cinema tickets.”
- Eclipse Internet, also offered in the UK, focuses on the needs of businesses. They were awarded the Best Customer Focus Award from Best Business Awards in 2010.
- aaNet in Australia states that it is “awesome. always.” They have a referral program where your monthly fees will be reduced by $4 for each person that you sign up.
Wherever you go for your ISP, and whether it’s for your personal or business venture or both, make sure you have done your homework. Get the services you need as well as those that offer a bit more icing on the cake.

The advantages of having a college degree are many. In addition to having more job opportunities, a degree provides you with the chance to earn a higher salary. If you don’t have the time for such programs, then you can earn university degrees online. Studying on your own time adds an additional quality that employers like; the fact that you can work without being under intense supervision.
The differences in salary for those who have a degree and those who don’t are significant, especially if you work in an engineering or medical field. If you work in healthcare for example, and don’t have a degree, the average salary maxes out at just over $40,000, but with an online degree you can earn over $140,000 per year. Also, it is nearly impossible to find an engineering job without a degree. A software engineer can earn an annual salary of $80,000, while a lawyer can earn over $100,000.
Management jobs are also affected by the kind of degree you have. A sales manager with a specialized degree can earn up to $65,000 a year. With these kinds of wages, it is less likely you will have to live paycheck-to-paycheck. Many people without a degree have to do this, and they accrue higher debt because they use credit cards to purchase what they want. They also live in smaller apartments and are generally not satisfied with their lifestyle.
If you earn a higher salary, this means you are able to pay for things that make you happy. You can live in a more comfortable location and have the things that help you enjoy life more. University degrees online offer many advantages, but also provide you with qualifications that employers look for. Also, having the degree shows that you have the necessary criteria for the job.

How can you find a great job in the Canadian market in the ISP field? The ISP field is a very sophisticated one, and those looking to branch into that industry needs to have solid qualifications and experience. Aside from asking friends or acquaintances for referrals, you can use Canada 411 to locate specific companies that may be looking to hire qualified ISP workers in your field. The 411 resource will be able to give you access to information about local companies near where you live so you can find out if they are accepting new hires. You can either cold-call the company or mail a resume to them that explains your experience and qualifications.
When you’re seeking employment, the last thing that you want to or should do is waste precious time “looking” for work. What does that mean? It means the time that you spend information gathering and sorting can be better used in other areas. Once you have the most comprehensive resource that you’ll need to find your next career move, you need to expend your energies in securing employment rather than looking for those companies that “might” be hiring.
Finding Good Jobs
Once you find a lead to a promising job, it’s advisable to work the lead until you get results. This doesn’t mean calling the company every day or sending letters upon letters to the hiring agent. It means to do your homework and research the company, its executives and the company’s mission to see where you will best fit. Then, you will have the most accurate and detailed information that you’ll need to send a customized, appealing pitch and follow-up letter to the hiring agent and staff. This can possibly make your efforts stand out above the other and get you called back in for subsequent interviews.

Making a good and lasting impression at an interview is an important skill that can help you find the type of job that you want. By following a few basic guidelines, you can dramatically improve the impression that you give your interviewer.
Your Appearance Makes an Impression
Your appearance is often the first thing that an interviewer notices about you. You should, therefore, dress for the occasion. Wearing professional attire to your interview shows that you take the position seriously and that you want to work for the company. It also tells your interviewer that you know how to present yourself to others in a favorable way. That could mean the difference between getting your dream job and staying unemployed.
Also, make sure that your hair and fingernails are presentable. Take some extra time before your interview to make sure that your clothes are very clean. Avoid outrageous hairstyles and nail polishes. You want to stand out, but only in a good way. When in doubt, lean towards a conservative appearance.
Making an Impression With Manners
The way that you behave says a lot about who you are. If you project confidence, then other people are more likely to have confidence in you. Keep good posture throughout your interview, maintain good eye contact and give a firm handshake. All of these behaviors show that you know how to conduct yourself in a professional manner without being too stiff and rigid.
You can prepare for the interview by printing out a few copies of your resume and be sure to bring business cards to give your interviewers. Providing them with resumes and business cards also shows that you take the job opportunity seriously.
As you leave the interview, thank everyone in attendance. Whether or not you get this job, you always want to make the best impression when you exit to solidify the good image that you have projected throughout the interview.

One of the best things about living in the world today is the fact that we now have the ability to make money from anywhere if we want to. Telecommuting is quickly become an acceptable way to earn a living whereas, a few decades ago, a person generally had to work a full-time job in an office building to make a living. Thank goodness times have changed! If you are looking for a way to generate more income or a way to make a full-time income from the comfort of your home, or anywhere for that matter, then you need to begin investigating your telecommuting options. There are many of them available to you, but one of the best options is investing in vacation rentals.
When you spend the money and purchase a property located at a popular vacation spot such as an Oceanside property, then you will easily be able to begin generating a profit with it. This is especially true if you purchase a condo or beach house. Today, most people who go on vacation don’t want to spend all week cramped in a tiny hotel room or inn. Instead, they want the luxury of feeling as if they are at home. This is why there is such a demand for vacation rentals.
Now, you might think that there isn’t any possible way that this type of business venture can be done by telecommuting. Well, with the help of an Oceanside property management company, it can! These property management companies specialize in helping property owners manage and maintain their rental properties. In fact, these companies do the majority of the work for you including the advertising, leasing, maintenance, rent collection and more. It’s very possible to earn a substantial amount of money with vacation rentals from home when you enlist the help of an Oceanside property management company to do all the hard work for you!
With the job market being as limited as it is right now, having a college education is an asset. Many employers have expectations that applicants will have a college education of some kind. Companies have only a few positions open and many, many applicants for each position. When browsing through resumes, employers are looking for people with education and skills that can benefit their company in the long run. Applicants with a college education will do so and employers know it. College graduates will generally gain employment over those with no formal education.
To give yourself the competitive edge in today’s job market, you’ll need to make yourself stand out over the other applicants. A college education is one way to do that. You can attend your local community college, university, or an online university to obtain your education. Pursuing higher education allows you to advance your skills and gain detailed knowledge in your field. Most employers give online degrees the same weight they would give to a degree from a traditional institution.
To make the most out of your education, it is best to do extensive research before registering for online college classes. Do research to find out which schools are widely known and are regarded as quality institutions. If you choose a lesser known school, pick one that’s been in operation for at least five years; people with degrees from these schools will have infiltrated the workforce in that time. Look into local schools that offer online degrees. Some universities and community colleges offer programs that combine online coursework with class time as well as courses that are taught exclusively online. Any degree from these schools is just the same as if you’d gone to campus every day for your classes. To keep your resume on the top of the pile, get your education either online or in the building.

You’ve just graduated from college and hope you have the basic skills to get your first ISP job. But how do you know when you qualify, and what do you do if you feel you need to do a little more brush up?
These clues will help:
In Sales:
- Some companies want previous sales experience even though they know you are a college graduate. Think back to any and all sales experience you have had, from selling newspapers to advertising, to working in a retail store. The important thing here is that you work well with people, and like it. A motivational attitude, flexibility and ability to make and set goals is paramount. Call center experience will also help you to get a job in ISP sales.
In Technical:
- Great troubleshooting skills (with lower than average stress), customer service skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills. Experience in telecommunication technologies and Microsoft applications. Quick learning attitude and an open mind. Ability to take on multiple tasks at the same time.
For either sales or technical ISP jobs, a bachelor’s degree is preferred in Electronic or Electronics and Telecommunication. If you have an MBA in finance or marketing, this is an added plus. Public speaking skills are also required as are computer skills in the basic programs such as: Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
Good organizational skills will assist any ISP employee and certification programs will give you that added edge. Courses include:
- Securing wireless networks
- Advanced Cisco routers
- Wireless Networking and Protocols
- Promotional marketing and Strategic Thinking
- Voice over IP
Today, the Internet is spoken about as widely as your needed next drive to the grocery store. More and more people are getting the skills they need to be a part of the Internet Service Provider wagon. Hop on board.

You know the basics of resume writing, but when it comes to putting together an ISP resume, you have little clue. Is the set-up different? The key words and action verbs used? What you include or forgo?
These guidelines will help:
- Many ISP resumes are handled similar to others out there. Start with a career summary or objective, followed by a list of skills, education and employment history. Set-up is no different.
- Or begin your resume with a summary of your qualifications followed by a list of API, Protocols, and Standards experience. Include the development tools and software used. As in all resumes, key words and action verbs should reflect the information you are presenting. A great list of Resume Action Verbs and Keywords can be found at: http://www.resume-help.org/resume_action_words.htm.
- It’s a good idea to peruse other’s ideas when contemplating how you want your own resume to look. A great example of a Network Engineer Resume can be found here: http://www.mariosalexandrou.com/free-sample-resumes/network-engineer.asp.
- White space is still important. Make sure your resume isn’t so busy with information it neglects to be wise on the eyes.
- Stand out from the crowd with a nice header. Jobmob.co has some great visually appealing ideas that won’t cost you a royal mint. Here is another example of a visually appealing resume posted on a blog. http://www.miljan.org/main/resume. Not only are you quickly engaged because of the bright heading, you are easily lead into the body of the resume which includes each of the companies the prospective employee worked for including the major achievements within that business.
When it comes to building an ISP resume, the two most important things to remember is that your prospective employer is looking for the right skills and the right attitude. Make your next resume easy for your future boss to read, and give it a colorful spin. Be positive and helpful in your presentation, and don’t forget to check the document twice for spelling errors.

It is a sad truth that simple talent is no longer worthy of businesses or time. Abilities aren’t judged by their depths; they’re instead judged by how well they can be proven. All merits must be documented and all successes must be shown. Employers are wanting more than knowledge. They are instead wishing to see how it’s been applied.
And this is not always an easy thing.
An Internet Service Provider career is sought by many. It’s an expanding field, made necessary by the world’s ever growing reliance on computers and their designs. But this popularity can become problematic for those wanting to join it. Job seekers may find that–instead of being welcomed into their positions–they will face intense competition, scrutiny and eventual dismissal.
And this is simply because they lack the necessary certifications.
Internet Service Provider careers demand far more than mere technical prowess. They are instead a culmination of software, analysis and telecommunication. Individuals must be certified in all three, offering evidence of their abilities in each necessary element. From power-point to Unix, SEO to verbal skills, there is much to learn. And those who can’t will find themselves refused.
They must instead seek out help. This is, thankfully, a simple matter. Countless sites (most provided by such industry giants as Microsoft, Linux and Macintosh) offer training to those who wish to improve their resumes. This is more than an education. This is instead a validation. Once achieved, these certificates can be offered to employers; proving individuals to be well versed in all the latest applications. And this must not be confused with mere schooling. This is instead a specified training that will offer the much needed advantages. Skills will be verified.
Internet Service Providers require more than those with experience. They instead require those who have offered the extra time, energy and patience to gaining what they need. It’s an instant indication of success and it will serve you well.

Beginning a career at home (balancing sales and motherhood) once seemed an easy notion and was supposed to be the perfect decision. A service could be offered, profits could be generated, and no time would be siphoned from your children. You could have it all, refusing common sacrifices. So, you crafted a website and you hurriedly created an inventory. You were certain that the requests would come soon in, and your business would be branded a success. You merely had to wait.
You’re still waiting.
Your attempt at a home-based career has faltered. There are no product orders. There are no hints of activity. Your page has remained dormant, found by no one except your closest family and friends.
This is a confusing because you have unquestionable skills and your knowledge of your specific industry is top notch. You’re not offering anything less than perfection. People should be flocking to your website.
Perhaps they would if they knew about it.
No business (however grand) can survive without the favor of the masses. It is therefore essential that all companies, including yours, inject themselves within the internet, allowing customers to learn about them. Forums must be pursued; advertisements must be made; affiliating with already established networks is essential. You must form a brand that can be recognized, placing it on sites that potential clients frequent.
Social media monitoring is therefore necessary.
None of your choices can be random (such as flooding entire message boards in hopes to find one single customer). You must instead understand where these individuals conduct their searches and what most appeals to them. Learn which engines are most often used. Seek out networking pages to make connections. Follow news and trends. You must predict your customers and their needs, strategically placing your site where it will most likely be seen.
Working from home is your dream. Now it can be a reality.
